Conditioning

My Fitness Journey so far

My fitness journey started the year 2022. With no prior sports or commitment to exercising, I began this when I came to Heritage of Faith to become a MiXchanger. Starting it slowly, but pushing myself nonetheless.

I always thought that physical training was just that, physical. I have realized that it is as much a mental challenge as a physical challenge.  Finding your weaknesses and training in that area even though your mind screams at you that you can’t change that. Realizing it’s a journey really takes the weight off your shoulders because people think it must happen instantly, but that is not the case. You just have to start and keep going.  It gets really hard at times, but you just have to be consistent in your fitness journey. What also helps me is that I have people to whom I am accountable so I don’t get lazy with conditioning.

We condition together and have fun building each other up while reminding each other why we are doing it, which is that we need to look after our bodies and do our part so that our physical bodies don’t limit the way God can use us.

Beautiful views while conditioning

We had some beautiful days with conditioning. Sometimes there is fog, which looks magical between the trees. Other times we go to conditioning early in the morning, which I have to say was so far my favorite time. the beauty of the early morning is amazing for me.

Cullies to Dullies

Cullies to Dulloes was a really great experience. Having sweet fellowship with the people around you and having a physical challenge added to that was certainly a good learning curve.

On the first day when we came to seven kilometers we were tired as we stopped for a water break we struggled to get going again. We started running a few seconds later and we started praising the Lord. Some of us were ahead whereas others were at the back. Randomly we started shouting and praising the Lord and we received so much energy from that that we could continue with joy helping and supporting each other.

On the second day, I learned so much from the things that happened. Serving even if things get very difficult. Putting a smile on your dial because you know that other people are experiencing difficulties as well. Keeping a grateful heart to keep the darkness away.

In the end, I would do it again with no doubt about it. I did a 10k and would really like to go further than that next time. Maybe 15k…
