Foster Home Experience

We had a Slipstream event where the entrance fee was a toy or stationary. So after the event we collected loads of toys and stationary for the kids at the foster home and we could finally give it to them. So all the first year MiXchangers and a couple of the third year and staff got in the cars with all the toys and stuff

. As we got there we greeted some of the kids outside and some inside the house and they were so excited to see us. The smiles just grew as they saw that we brought them gifts. I was a little uncomfortable around the kids just because I don’t normally spend lots of time around younger children, but we played soccer and I really enjoyed spending time with them.

Break Free experience

I was on the building team that laid bricks and it was such a fun experience. The people on the building team were Andre, Earnest, Drew, Reyno, and myself. We flowed so well together. Building walls, and breaking down walls that shouldn’t be there. It was hard physical labor, but it was a great learning experience as well as I enlightening as to how the people at Break Free function and how we function as a group.

One team painted, another one cutted the wood, another one worked on building the church, and the team I was on worked on building a house.

The first day we started building slowly and found out how we should flow and what responsibilities should be who’s. When we got a good flow we did well on the presentation and the building.

The second day was where I had the most fun. We had our flow and knew what everyone had to do. We had awesome fellowship in our group and my highlight was when Jeanine and I had to throw cement on to the wall because there were patches that didn’t have enough cement. So we would throw it on the wall and then we would smooth it out.
